5 Ways to Make You Awesome at Writing Your Content That Converts

5 ways to make you awesome at writing your content that converts

As a woman entrepreneur (or male entrepreneur), you need to spend several hours to market yourself online - thinking of social media posts, talking with your prospects and clients, talking with other entrepreneurs who have been in the same business for years, and the list goes on.

But how will you compress your time marketing online, writing, and meeting your deadlines (and other tasks not mentioned)? How will you have interesting and awesome content that converts your audience to clients? The answer is making a planned compelling content.

Writing content needs research - knowing what your audience demographics, likes & dislikes, what problem you are trying to help them with (the solution might be tips and your products or services), editing, promoting your offers subtly or directly, and publishing online. It takes time to make engaging content with you trying different styles and strategies that will win your audience’s trust.

As a content writer, I’ve compiled several tips for you to help you ace your content.

Ways to Make an Awesome Content That Converts

1. Create an attractive title. In a Columbia University study about scrutinizing the content on Twitter with the most engagement, about 60% of people share an article without reading beyond the headline. Headlines or also known as titles can make or break your audience’s interest. It’s the first contact point to any person, when done right will lead them to read the whole post.

According to Neil Patel,

“Often, it’s not really the content marketing itself that generates the most views and social media shares for your content, but how you structure the headline.”

Add emotions to it. You can create curiosity, intrigue, awareness, happiness, anxiety, or anger just within your title.

What do you want your audience to know or do? What value can you give to them?

You can use an online tool such as Headline Analyzer by Co-Scheduler to look at your title’s readability and effectiveness. It also gives tips on how you can improve your title.

2. Make the body related to your title. You can inform, entertain, and sell here all at once. This is where you help your audience. Use simple terms and powerful adjectives in your body.

Explain what you have researched and taken the time to write your thoughts logically.

According to Jill Konrath,

Instead of vague terms and meaningless “corporate speak,” use industry statistics, one of the most effective ways to persuade people with your value proposition.

Numbers give a specific amount of anything that will make your post more credible. It’s not just based on your opinions too.

Provide good value first to your audience. Let them feel that their problems are melting by with your solutions.

Don’t forget to stir a desire on your offers.*

Remember to proofread thoroughly. You can use Grammarly to check your spelling, punctuation marks, sentence structure, logic, and of course grammar.

3. Break down sentences. When you’re reading an article, you first skim it right? That is what your audience does too. Commonly, your audience spends less than 15 seconds on your website.

When making a blog, for example, the ideal number of sentences per paragraph is 3 - 4. It is digestible to read and looks few to your eyes. I for one person who’s discouraged seeing long paragraphs. I don’t read that blog post.

You like to have your audience read the first several sentences scrolling down to the last.

Keep their interests at your heart when you are writing.

4. Build Trust. Make it to a point that whatever you say in your content has no gray areas (ex. maybe, I’m not sure..., I think I’ve heard someone said this...).

Refer to credible references such as interviews, news, researches, books, articles, websites, and bloggers with known expertise in their respective fields.

Relate your experiences, whether positive or negative, on your topic. I have been struggling to convert my readers into paying clients when I was doing lifestyle blogs for several months. After talking to a known blogger and a business coach, they advised me to write on my niche for my target clients - writing content that converts. ;)

If you’re a funny person, you can add humor to your post. More of a serious one? Add analogy or story.

Give authentic pieces of advice to your audience, let them feel that you’re genuinely helping them and not just going to sell them something.

If you have purchased something online from a friend or a brand, what made you buy from them? What words made you think, "Hey I can count on them and I need their product now"?

5. Have a Clear Call to Action (CTA) at the end. Creating an urgency to do something lets the audience feel and choose between now or never. They do not want to feel they have missed out on a magnificent offer.

Now that you’ve gained their interest and trust with your written content, remember to tell them WHAT THEY SHOULD DO next. Will they subscribe to your emails, sign-up for your freebie, go to your website, or something else?

You’re now finally in the conversion part. It will be just a matter of time before they're ready to buy from you. Yay!

Bonus Tips

Try to test different content. When you hear the word content, it comes not only in the form of a blog. It can also be emails, infographics, videos, e-books, white papers, case studies, testimonials, reviews, slide share, etc. Study your analytics per week or month and see what content does your audience engages with and made them buy from you.

To spice it up, you can add emotion to it and the desire of your selling.
